Pupils have an important part to play in helping their school make decisions. In this section you will find information about some of the activities your child takes part in during school. This may be as a representative in the School Council or as an active member of a School Club.

School Council

The school council consists of two representatives from each year group that are voted in every year by the pupils of our school. I'm Abigail and I am current class 5 councillor for this academic year. Since September, the school has been busy listening to the students and arranging events to raise money which enables us to provide fun activities in the year.

In October, we ran a second hand book sale which raised over £100. This enabled us to provide a glow stick disco in November for everyone to enjoy. This term (Spring) we will be holding two more exciting events for the pupils of St William's. So watch this space!

Faith in Action

Some of our Year 6 children have enjoyed taking part in Faith in Action this year. Each term they must plan, prepare and deliver a mini-project aimed at helping others in our community. Last term, one group hosted a Christmas party for the EYFS children, another made cakes and cards for members of our Parish family, another made cards and presents for members of our school to leave as secret positivity prizes. The children involved have loved the opportunity to plan their own ways to give back to the community around them.

If you require further information on any of the items shown in this section, please contact the school and we will do our best to help.

Welcome to our School Council

The School Council at St William’s represent the pupil voice of the school community. They are an essential pillar in the democracy of the school and are given the capacity to implement real changes and officiate whole school events.

Each year, pupils run electoral campaigns in the first term and make promises to their year group about what they would do to improve the quality of life in the school community which is a great opportunity to discuss the importance of democracy as part of our British values.

The elected Council in then made up of two representatives from each class. and meet regularly throughout the school year with a delegated member of staff. These sessions are pupil-led. The Council discusses recent issues as put forward by their constituents, and plan whole school events.

Our Vision

The School Council Vision Statement is as follows:

  • We aim to make pupils to feel comfortable, happy and safe at school.
  • We shall work hard to make our world a better place
  • We want to improve our school by discussing ideas and making decisions.
  • We aim to listen to others and discuss comments and suggestions that would make our school an even more wonderful place.
