We are extremely proud to celebrate an incredible achievement by our talented Year 6 pupils at St William’s Catholic Primary School in Trimdon. Our outstanding dodgeball team has been crowned 1st place winners in the Go Well Finals — an amazing result that reflects their hard work and commitment.
Hear from media correspondents, Lucy and Harrison...
There were two groups - Groups A and B. We were in group B. This is what happened... four schools were in each group and they all played each other. Then the teams who came first played against one another. We placed first in our group. We won x 2 then drew x 2 then lost x 2. It was a draw between us and another school. You know what that means - SUDDEN DEATH ROUND! There are 6 people on each team - 2 were knocked out on ours, three knocked out on theirs, then one out on ours. A TIE. Myles throws the ball and....and HIT!!!!! We won: the whistle blew just as their third to last person was ... ELIMINATED.
Through to the County Finals
After a fantastic performance, our team has now secured their place in the County Finals. This is a wonderful milestone for the children and a testament to their dedication and sportsmanship throughout the competition.
Next Stop… Nationals!
Their journey doesn’t stop there! With this brilliant win, the team is now heading to the National level, ready to take on their next big challenge. We know they will continue to give their very best.
A Team to Be Proud Of
Throughout every stage of the competition, the players demonstrated:
- Outstanding teamwork
- Determination
- A positive attitude
- The courage to embrace every challenge
Their efforts both on and off the court have impressed everyone, and we couldn’t be more delighted with their success.
What an Achievement!
We are incredibly proud of each member of the team. Their enthusiasm and commitment have brought great pride to our school community.
Well done, Year 6 — you are true champions!
